What is it?
A hairdryer, is an electromechanical device designed to blow cool or hot air over wet or damp hair, in order to accelerate the evaporation of water particles and dry the hair. Hairdryers allow to better control the shape and style of hair, by accelerating and controlling the formation of temporary hydrogen bonds inside each strand. These hydrogen bonds are very powerful (allowing for stronger hair shaping than even the sulfur bonds formed by permanent waving products), but are temporary and extremely vulnerable to humidity. They disappear with a single washing of the hair.
Hairstyles using Hairdryers usually have volume and discipline, which can be further improved by the use of styling products and hairbrushes during drying to add tension, hold and lift.
Who invented?
The very first hair dryers were vacuum cleaners adapted for drying hair. Alexandre Godefoy invented the first electric hair dryer in 1890.
In 1920, the first true hair dryer came on the market, but it was extremely large and heavy, and frequently overheated. Aside from the addition of some safety features, the inside of a hair dryer hasn't changed too much over the years. Not until 1951 was the first really workable dryer made. The device consisted of a hand-held dryer connected to a pink plastic bonnet fitted over the woman’s head.
How it has changed through out time?

What is it used for?
- It is used to dry and slilying hair
- Hair dryers are also helpful when applying cosmetics. Heat up an eyelash curler to get the best curls for lashes. Use a hair dryer to dry wet nail polish.
- A hair dryer is also useful for household dusting. Set a dryer on a low or no-heat setting and use it to lightly dust silk or dried flowers.
- Heating up a bandage with a hair dryer will make it easier and less painful to remove.
What are some tips and recommendations to use it?
- Do not hold the dryer too close when drying hair.
- Section your hair up and start with the under sections.
- Aim the airflow from your dryer along the hair in the direction of the ends.
- Use your blow-dryer's nozzle attachment.
- To prevent heat damage, use a thermal protector. It adds body and shine.
- Begin styling the hair when the scalp is completely dry and 80% of the hair is dry.
- Get rid of any blow dryer older than five years. The older the blow dryer, the higher the chance that the temperature gauge is damaged.
- Give your hair a break once in awhile and let it just dry naturally.
